158 Mistle Toe Mice (e-pattern)

Melissa and Melvin are the sweetest wee mice; they have dangly legs and cute wee bottoms which allow them to sit. Their clothing is not designed to be removed.

Skill Level: Intermediate Knitting

Size: Melissa and Melvin are 34 cm long and 18cm when sitting.

General requirements:
3.0mm knitting needles, Embroidery needle for face,
Doll needle for eyes.
Darning needle for sewing up and 4 safety pins.

Melissa: Materials:
50 g Patons Cotton Blend Colour 16 Mistletoe Green
50 g Patons Cotton Blend Colour 18 Holly Red
25 g Patons Cotton Blend Colour 4 Tan
Dacron Stuffing
2 x 12mm red buttons for the dress.

Melvin: Materials:
50 g Patons Cotton Blend Colour 16 Mistletoe Green
50 g Patons Cotton Blend Colour 18 Holly Red
25 g Patons Cotton Blend Colour Tan
Dacron Stuffing
2 x 12mm red buttons for the dungarees.

Materials for face. Each mouse requires:
2 x 5mm shank buttons for eyes 
Black embroidery floss for face, Black thread for attaching eyes.
2.5m black cotton yarn for nose, Tan embroidery floss for whiskers

Alternative 8ply yarns may be used. The yarn label may suggest that you use larger knitting needles – it is important when knitting toys that the work is tight and firm so holes do not form in the knitting and stuffing of small pieces. 3mm needles are recommended when using 8ply yarn for this pattern.

Safety: The mice can be safely used as toys for babies or very young children as long as you embroider the eyes and stitch the clothing straps to avoid buttons being a choking hazard.
